Fantastic UK Aerial Photography

birmingham bullring
Google have been at Aerial satellite pictures for a while now, but the top down views are already a little old hat. Although now Windows Live Maps have been flying all over northern England huddled in a small aircraft with high definition cameras and clipboards, taking multiple diagonal-in (birds eye) views of every second of their voyage.

What you get is four views of every area which has been snapped, so on their website you can rotate around high quality pictures of any one area. All you need is Internet Explorer or Firefox on a Windows machine. Use the controls on the left to rotate and switch between arial and birds eye views.

Brilliant!

I've found two areas of interest, Birmingham's inner city areas including the spanking new shimmering Bullring shopping centre, and the Blackpool seafront and Pleasure Beach.

Birmingham Birds-eye-view | Blackpool Birds-eye-view

They hope to snap up more of the England landscape in the next year or so, so remember to check for updates. The same extensive photography has been done in many areas of America including New York, Las Vegas and Cedar Point theme park.

Download Fest 07 Announced, Hell Freezes Over

download lineup This years metal thrash-up 3 day festival at donnington park had its headline line-up announced this evening on Radio1. Meanwhile, hell freezes over. My Chemical Romance, the most emo/rubbish/sold-out band is headlining the first night. How, what? I know, I know. In a world where Trivium get pissed on (err, literally), for supporting at Iron Maiden, I wish MCR the best of luck in a line up headining with... err... Iron Maiden.

Otherwise, Linkin Park will clearly be touring after the release of their spanking new album very soon. Iron Maiden, slightly more fitting.

A very tame list of headliners for this years fest, where are Rage Against the Machine?

Torrents Will Prevail

Bittorrent software aint getting half old-hat these days - right? The last few trackers are on their last legs heading towards closure, the torrents are slowing up to a standstill. So wheres the new technology? Isnt it about now that all the pirates face a revolutionary transfer from one network to the next? Or does this spell the end to pirate software? Who knows!

At least the only (slightly old) news to come out of this is that worldwide-popular bittorrent tracker 'The-Pirate-Bay.org' are staging a bid to move to sealand. Sealand, whats that? Sealand is a magic land of pirating fun and games, with no authorities to protect the content of other countries - whos to tell them to shut-the-hell down on their disused oil-rig type thing.

As long as they win their bid for Sealand, you can all be enjoying juicy torrent content for years to come.

You can donate to the buy-sealand fund, if you like. I know you suckers will do anything for pirate software.

astoria Two of londons best music venus are under threat! They have been sold on to a music company who no-doubt has their sights on selling the prime-location central-london venues for demolition to make way for new shops and assorted retail therapy, either that or for the new crossrail underground train in time for the olympics.

Sign the petition and show your interest in keeping one of Londons most famous and historic venues!

Director Jackson turns to Games

jacksonJackson, director of the award aniahhalating 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy, is now turning to games in hope that there is more bling to hoover, having sucked up all the awards in the world of film already.

Remember the article I posted on Jackson producing the X-Box Halo film next year? Well now he's gone further, partnering with Microsoft game studios along with his own games studio to create a series of games for the Xbox 360.

Im genuinely interested in this, in the hope that it will perhaps hark back to the 'Bad Taste' days, but in game version. How cool would that be!

cocaine
Following the american junk food thing, have a butchers at the latest craze - cocaine! According to the press material it gives you 'a similar high as cocaine' and boasts 'without the crash'. All it seems to be is 350% concentrated Red Bull. Worth a try I suppose, but im not holding out for anything special.
